I’ll be doing a little bow hunting for Mule Deer around the Big Bend area in Brewster County. The hunt is going to be darn near impossible, but I’m looking forward to it. My question is, when is the rut normally for that area? I’ll be hunting mid November. Thank ya!

Unfortunately, the rut will be much later in the year, normally around Christmas to New Years in that area. I also hunt Brewster and Jeff Davis counties and have seen it start slowly around late December (say 15th or so) but be wide open around New Years.
So for November hunting, watch any feeders and/or water sources. The bucks will still be thinking of food and putting on fat reserves and not the girls at that time of year. If there are protein feeders in the area, pay close attention to them as bucks will be laying around and preparing for the upcoming breeding season.
