Looks like our rut is running late this year…normally runs around third week in October..some years earlier and some later. The bucks were running the does today so I suppose the rut is now.
Just wondering if others are late around Dewitt county?
The beginning of the breeding season does, in fact, fluctuate. Lots of factors involved such as temperature, moon phase, rainfall, food abundance, individual physical health, etc. So although generalizations are pretty accurate, specific areas will vary a bit.
With all the rains and overall excellent herd health, I would expect most rutting to be earlier than normal this year.
